Make a Wish

Nana & Papa had a sleepover with Abigail then joined us for church and lunch at P.F. Chang's. Matt and I do not eat out often so it's been a long while since we enjoyed some yummy food from P.F. Chang's. Outside this P.F. Chang's there is a little fountain and Nana taught Abigail how to throw in a coin.

Rawls-Talley Wedding

Sarah and I met our first year at Auburn. We were next door neighbors in Owen Hall. I cannot believe it's been ALMOST ELEVEN YEARS!!!
Here's a picture of us with Emily, she was our Resident Assistant at Owen Hall. (You might remember Emily, she made a cameo on the blog when we attended her wedding in May 2009.) It's nice that we've all stayed friends!

Matt was the wedding photographer! Here's pictures of the happy couple!

Zoo Pics from March 20th

Abigail enjoyed sharing the day at the zoo with Nana & Papa!
All the monkeys: lemurs, orangutans, apes were the favorites on this trip to the zoo. They were very active and it was cutes seeing some of the young apes playing tag.
Abigail rode the carousel THREE TIMES!

I rode the train with Abigail. It was a rough ride and the tunnels, although lit, were scary because they were so loud. We'll try it again on another visit.
Abigail had lots of fun with Nana & Papa at the Zoo! We're glad they also bought an annual pass so we can keep going back throughout the year.

Easter Egg Roll & Sites of DC

What a day! We started the day taking a few pictures before our lunch date.

We dined with Frank Sanchez, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, at the Department of Commerce.

Soon it was time to join 6,000 others in line for our 1:45 time slot at The Easter Egg Roll. It was a very long line, very hot too!

We finally milled through the line, through security, our tickets were scanned and Abigail got a wrist band (which we put on her ankle so she wouldn't fool with it). We were in, and Abigail had passed out! I woke her up so she could take some pictures, but there was a lot to soak in, so much going on! Characters were walking around, kids were rolling Easter eggs, there were kids hula-hooping and running football drills, Justin Beiber was on stage singing just to name a FEW!

Apollo Anton Ono, the most decorated USA Winter Olympian, read Dr Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham. Abigail very much enjoyed story time with Apollo, we read her Dr Seuss often!

We didn't stay much longer because it was so crowded and hot. On the way out Abigail was given a commemorative egg.

Our day was not over. Off to see the sites of DC. First was the World War II Memorial.

We past the Reflecting Pool on our way to the Lincoln Memorial. For those of you who do not know, Matt fell into the Reflecting Pool while posing for a photo op as a teenager during a family trip.
We continued on to The Lincoln Memorial and the Korean War Memorial, the cherry blossoms were blooming everywhere and they were gorgeous!

Next our the walking tour was the newer Franklin D Roosevelt Memorial. It was such a beautiful day!

Last stop was the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. Lots of walking overall, but what a great day and lots of GREAT photos to show for it!

Easter Sunday in DC

The Easter Bunny found Abigail, even in DC.

We joined Bill & Alma for brunch at Alma's sister's home. Brunch was quite the spread including an Apple French Toast; I need to find that recipe! There was an Easter Egg Hunt and Abigail went first since she was the youngest. (The next ages up were 7 & 8 yr old siblings, then high school and college age.) Abigail was fascinated with a couple eggs and enjoyed watching the little dog go after the chocolate in the eggs.

Pigeon Forge to DC

Matt occupied his 8hrs stuck in the passenger seat taking tons of photos!

Abigail was pulling my hair!

Group shot.

Abigail did great on the drive but was happy to be out of the carseat.

Great family and great food!

My mom's cousin, Bill, was a great tour guide and gave us a driving DC at night tour.

The last stop of the driving tour was nothing I remembered from any History class. Bill pulled into a small random parking lot located next to a gas station. Do you recognize this flight of stairs?

Sleeping Beauties & Yazoo

Do you remember when we lived in Nashville and "lived" at Hotel Preston for a couple weeks? I do: our A/C died, it was super hot and I was 18wks pregnant. Hotel Preston has very comfortable beds. Do you remember our sweet little dog catching some Zzzz's?Abigail slept all night in her pack-n-play and woke, as usual, super early to get her morning milk. (It was actually an hour earlier than normal because Nashville is Central Time Zone.) Well, on this fabulous morning, Abigail actually went back to sleep. She snuggled with her daddy, it was so sweet. Matt eventually got out of bed and Abigail was not disturbed. When I finally tried to wake her she was not interested! (I snapped on my cell and sent it to a few via text message.) Next, I decided to unbutton her pajamas, thinking it would surely wake her. It did not and she just rolled over and made herself more comfortable.
I love that little pose, it reminded me of her first photo-shoot.In the meantime, I received a reply picture text from my cousin Marisa. Melina was just as sleepy this morning!

It was great spending a night in Nashville. We were able to see some friends and old co-workers; and even made a stop at the new Yazoo brewery location. After looking over Matt's pictures, I'm insanely surprised how few pictures he took!
The new bar, with many more taps!
Brian and Brandi working the bar.
A beer named Sue, the menu and Matt's beers. Even though there are more taps, the line is even longer than at the old location. Matt would get two beers so he was standing in line half the time. He was a little disappointed that they do not sell cases from this new tap room.

I thought there was a picture with Matt in it too, but maybe it was taken with someone else's camera. I cannot believe Matt did not get a picture of Clint & pregnant Fernanda!
